We have compiled a glossary of sort to help our shoppers understand why our practices and products are deserving of credit. We use the best materials from the best resources and do our best to follow a sustainable retailer standpoint. All of our packaging is compostable and our mirrors are sourced from around the greater Seattle area to be repurposed. Learn more about the materials we use and why we use them below.

jewelry

gold filled

Gold filled jewelry is made by fusing a layer of gold to a layer of base metal. The resulting material is sturdy, resists water and wear, and won’t rub off like the gold plating used in most affordable jewelry.

argentium silver

Argentium® silver is an 'alloy' or mixture of metals which has a high content of pure silver mixed with a small amount of germanium. This makes it a very fine form of silver: more tarnish resistant, a brighter white finish when polished, antibacterial and hypoallergenic.

polymer clay

Polymer clay is used to make the clay earrings as there is a large field of color, texture, and characteristic options. It is the main type of clay used for clay earrings.

stainless steel

Stainless steel is a highly durable metal, allowing it to withstand the wear and tear of everyday activities, which can otherwise cause damage. The hard metal resists scratches and corrosion thanks to an invisible layer of chromium that prevents oxidation.

baltic birch plywood

Baltic Birch Plywood’s most desirable quality is its strength. It has multiple plies of Birch veneer that provide superior stability and strength. Each ply is a very consistent 3mm, and there are typically more plies than standard plywood. Because the core layers are made from void-free Birch instead of a softer, less expensive species, the screw bites with all its threads.

repurposed mirrors

The mirrors are sourced and salvaged around the greater Seattle area, all from secondhand sources (construction sites, second-use suppliers, etc.) meaning they have stories to tell through mild imperfections on their faces.

hardboard

Hardboard is used between the layers of plywood to provide stability and structure without wasteful cost. It is placed between two layers of plywood and frames the mirror itself to ensure security and remains unseen.
